Give Via a Donor-Advised Fund
A Donor Advised Fund is an excellent way to simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.
What is a DAF?
A tax-exempted charitable giving account. DAFs are often compared to a 401(k) for retirement savings or a Health Savings Account (HSA) for healthcare. You contribute cash or assets, get the tax benefit upfront, invest the balance in the market, and make grants out to nonprofits over time.
DAF accounts are held at financial institutions or community foundations. These agencies invest the money held in DAF accounts, so the value grows (tax-free).
Examples include:
Commercial Organizations – Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable (aka DAF360), Vanguard Charitable
National Organizations – National Christian Foundation, American Endowment Foundation, National Philanthropic Trust
Community Foundations – Local, religious-based, etc.
Theological Horizons has many donors that have used Renaissance Charitable to establish family DAFS
