Faith & Work: Generative Entrepreneurship

  • Theological Horizons 1841 University Circle Charlottesville, VA 22903 (map)

The Faith & Work Forum is a conversation series that discusses the interplay between faith, work, and life. Each semester we feature guest speakers with leadership experience from across a wide range of vocations, who bring authentic stories about seeking a meaningful, purpose-driven life. This program runs in partnership with our Fellows Program & Vintage Lunch and provides candid conversations over a free lunch at the historic Bonhoeffer House. RSVP required. Email Christy Yates to learn more.

About Graham:

When Graham was living in rural Uganda in 1999, he felt God calling him to "come home, get married, and be a normal person." For someone who was preparing for long-term, low-resource, cross-cultural work, that was an abrupt shift. The journey of obedience brought him to NYC, where he worked in team development, public education, entrepreneurship - and marriage and fatherhood. Graham found an extraordinary group of humble, talented, ambitious Christian entrepreneurs who inspired him to profound integration of faith and work. His decade as a full-time father formed him in deep and redemptive ways, showing him that the integration of faith and work is not limited to paid work. Graham is the founder of failed ventures - both for-profit and non-profit - and has been honored to learn from wise leaders formed by both success and failure to better love their neighbors and serve society through their work. He is now working to convene and nurture that kind of generative, generous community of Christian entrepreneurs for the good of our neighbors, families, employees, and the world.

Graham and his wife, Rebecca, celebrated 25 years of marriage this year and have two amazing children. Their older daughter, Elisabeth, is in her fourth year of college, studying math, economics, and urban leadership. Their younger daughter, Katherine, is a sophomore in high school, studying all the things her teachers tell her to study - while reading Pride and Prejudice for fun, planning adventures beyond the imagination of most 16-year-olds, and working to convince her parents that they should approve these adventures.
